You will hear a lot of chat about stock images, but what is it all about? How does it work and how do you use it? I am here to de-mystify the world of stock imagery and talk through the best ways of using it.
Stock imagery is a bank of imagery that is taken by talented togs all over the world. They will cover everything from architecture to food, portraits to pets and everything in between. They are available to anyone who wants to purchase, download and use.
The process of finding yourself stock imagery is easy. Say you are an aesthetics technician looking for some images to use for your business. You can head over to a site like Shutter Stock or Adobe, type in a key word, for example Medical Aesthetics and browse a whole host of images. All you need to do is settle on one you like, click on the preferred licence, and away you go. Depending on the licence you choose, you can use your images for your socials, your website and even print, just make sure you read the fine print. Make sure you know what you are getting for your pennies and that you won’t be breaking any licencing agreements.
Options…. There are SO many!! It doesn’t just stop at photography. You can find illustrations, videos, graphics… literally more creative visual mediums than you can shake a stick at. And the best news? If you happen to be a start-up business or a small business with minimal budget, you can head over to Unsplash to find a range of completely free stock visuals.
If you are wanting to really tailor stock images to represent you brand and business, then look for a photographer whose style fits yours. By doing this, you are guaranteeing that consistent look and feel which gives you that real polished, professional look. There is nothing worse than coming across a business online who’s feed is covered with stock images in totally different photographic styles. It makes for a very confused brand message, and let’s face it – a confused audience is not going to be investing.
Stock images can be a great aid for your business, if you are using them in the right way. If you are looking for more of a personal set of stock images, I can absolutely help you. Pop me a message or book a brand clarity call to have a chat over a cuppa about how I can help build your very own library of on-brand stock images, tailored to your business.
